Responsibility throughout the entire value chain

Supplier requirements

Benders places great importance on ensuring that our suppliers: follow our code of conduct; work in an ethically correct manner; and, comply with international conventions on human rights. The code of conduct is signed by our suppliers when they enter into agreements with us. Via the code of conduct, it is certified that suppliers honour: national and international laws and ordinances; the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights; the ILO’s core conventions; and, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Every agreement entered into with a supplier is preceded by a meticulous bid procedure that ensures we choose the right candidate. It is very important that the chosen supplier lives up to the requirements imposed in respect of quality, the work environment and the environment in general. One aspect of these requirements is that the supplier has to undergo an assessment before any collaboration or agreement is entered into. Our purchase department is responsible for supplier assessments being carried out. To ensure and monitor requirement compliance, it has continuous contact with each supplier.

Third-party audits

Using independent third-party auditors or Benders’ own auditors, social and ethical requirements are additionally monitored at the premises of selected suppliers. Audits are carried out in accordance with the requirements in our code of conduct. Clarifying our positions on the above issues, Benders has a purchasing policy, an anti-corruption policy and a policy against child labour.
