We are now expanding our existing range and welcoming wet-pressed concrete paving slabs under the name STARK. The unique wet-pressing method ensures high strength while maintaining a low weight, offering numerous benefits such as reduced concrete usage, lower transport costs, and good colour sharpness.
With a new machine and an innovative production line, Benders can now manufacture wet-pressed paving slabs. Wet pressing is a method in which excess water is pressed out of wet concrete under extremely high pressure. This is done within the mould, allowing the slab to be removed immediately. The process allows a 65 mm thick concrete slab to achieve approximately the same strength as a traditionally manufactured 80 mm slab. Although time-consuming, the method offers environmental benefits and exciting opportunities for project-specific products.
– This unique method allows our customers to order a product with a significantly lower CO₂ footprint, since less concrete is required. This leads to more efficient transportation and improved ergonomics during laying, says Niklas Stark, Product Manager at Benders Sverige AB.
Wet pressing results in a fine-textured surface with good friction, which can be beneficial for use in high-traffic environments.
– With the new STARK range, Benders can now offer the market wet-pressed concrete slabs. We are already collaborating on several local projects alongside various architectural firms, concludes Niklas.
