Why choose house foundations from Benders?

Build secure foundations using our base elements (Bender Sockelelement). They are insulated, high quality and come with a brushed, rustic finish that means they can be laid immediately. Their low weight and perfect fit help make Benders the natural choice!

Foundations are important. They must be able to support their loads for, at the very least, 100 years. Benders’ base elements (Bender Sockelelement) are made of fibre-reinforced concrete. They have a rustic brushed finish and cellular plastic (expanded polystyrene) insulation. To match all sorts of building projects, the elements are available in various shapes and sizes. Benders is also the only manufacturer whose base elements are type-approved as regards thermal resistance (R-value) and load bearing capacity. This means that our customers get durable, economic and warm foundations for their buildings. Below, we give details of even more of the advantages of foundations from Benders.

Attractive, safe and durable

We have reduced the weight of our base elements by giving them a 10 mm thick section of fibre-reinforced concrete. The concrete is cast on a high-quality cellular plastic. This ensures superior durability and fit. There are no glued on panels that can become misshapen and crooked or, in the worst cases, come away from the cellular plastic. External stresses in the form of snow clearance and light impacts are, as a rule, no problem. If an accident should happen, it is easy to repair minor damage using ordinary cement. Combining durability with attractiveness is also no bad thing. That is why Benders’ base elements have a vertically brushed surface for a strong and aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Make sure your largest investment rests on attractive, safe and durable foundations – use base elements from Benders!

Well-insulated and economic

Our elements are available in heights from 300 to 900 mm. You, the customer, can thus choose the insulation thickness for your foundations. We use a superior quality cellular plastic as our standard backing. As the observable trend is towards more insulation in foundations, we are sure that our customers notice and value this. Check with your retailer which climate zone you are in and what the insulation requirements are in your area.

What determines base slab design?

Thanks to, amongst other things, the high-quality cellular plastic, Benders’ base elements are designed to tolerate heavy loads. That is why we also advise our customers to choose a sufficiently sturdy edge beam, one that is at least 300 mm wide (preferably 400 mm). For garages, a 200 mm edge beam is a good solution.

Efficient floor heating

Many people now include floor heating in their designs. Your foundations or HVS contractor can help you select a floor heating system tailored to your house. Knowing the layout of entrances, windows, walls and bathroom is vital.

Frost protection

Generally, the further north you build, the more reason there is to frost-protect your foundations with a cellular plastic collar. This applies when laying foundations on land where frost heave can be a problem. For example, in Sweden it is often enough to frost protect house corners when building on heave-prone land south of a line connecting Karlstad, Örebro, Västerås and Gävle. North of this line, special frost measures are required.

Peace of mind with radon-proofing

Modern building materials are free from radon. However, there may be radon in the ground. Your planning authority will be able to advise you. Stable foundations with little risk of crack formation in the concrete reduce the risk of radon penetrating into the building. The same is true of a layer of PE sheeting in the insulation. If you build on a site where ground radon is high, it may be advisable to lay drainage hoses in the drainage layer before pouring the foundations slab. If high radon values are subsequently measured in the building, it is then easy to connect in a fan.
